Pilates is a popular style of exercise that provides a wealth of physical, mental and spiritual benefits. It is designed to lengthen, strengthen and balance the body.
What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?
The traditional principles of Mat Pilates are Breathing, Concentration, Control, Centring, Precision, Flow.
Beth will focus each week on correct alignment, breathing and core engagement before moving participants through a series of gentle exercises. Options for each exercise will be offered so that individuals can choose the right level for them.
Beth will not be performing any hands on corrections in light of government regulations, but will be able to advise individuals on adaptions & correct alignment.
The classes will focus on small, gentle movements designed to increase strength, balance and body awareness. Health issues should be communicated to the instructor at the beginning of the term.
Classes will be Covid secure, limited in size and socially distant.

Please note there are no classes on the following dates:
26-30 October and 16-20 November 2020
What do I need to bring with me?
Clothing should be comfortable. Leggings/shorts/ tracksuit bottoms are all appropriate.
Please bring your own mat. We will do the classes bare foot or in socked feet.

About the tutor
Beth is a personal trainer and is passionate about the impact of exercise and movement on the mind and body. The gentle and nurturing effects of Pilates have had a huge impact on her own life, both in terms of strength and also introducing more intent and mindfulness to her movement. An experienced secondary school teacher, as well as a fitness instructor, Beth loves to teach!

Audio Description (AD) is available in Screen 1. Infrared audio system is available in both Cinema Screens 1 and 2. Induction loops (T) are in place in the Theatre, please ask for assistance on the door.
Some live events may carry strict age restrictions, these are outlined on our website. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult at all times during evening events.
