Thu 9 Aug | 10.30am-4.30pm | with Caren Threlfall | £55
Create unique pieces of art using wool fibre and experiment with a variety of techniques, including needle felting and wet felting techniques. Use vibrant textural fibres in order to produce beautiful pieces of art to be proud of.
What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?
During the day, you will learn the techniques involved in creating individual pieces of felted textile art before moving on to create pieces that you can take home and be proud of.
You will learn the basic felting techniques of wet felting and needle felting, by tutor demonstration and then having a go yourself with the tutor always on hand for help and advice. The pieces can then be further enhanced, using free machine and hand embroidery which will be briefly covered on the day.
Please bring
- a couple of towels ( not best ones ! )
- some rubber gloves if you think you may be irritated by the soap used in wet felting.
- An apron
We may have time to add some embroidery to your work, so, you can if you wish to bring your sewing machine, (it will need to have a ‘drop feed’ function in order to create free machine embroidery) and threads, or needles and embroidery threads for hand embroidery. Some photos or magazine clipping for inspiration would also be a good idea.
All materials are included
Please bring a pen, notebook and your glasses, if you need them.
If you have a query or are unsure whether the course is right for you please get in touch with the Creative Learning Team who will be happy to contact the tutor on your behalf.
