Sunday 16th Oct 2.00-3.00pm BAC Screen Two
Paco Roca is a much-loved illustrator whose work has pushed the boundaries of comic art in Spain. His affectionate advocacy for neglected members of society in Wrinkles earned him an international reputation both for his comic and for the film on which it was based and which will also be screened at the festival. His work can be intimate and personal whilst also covering the broad sweep of Spain’s recent political history. Inventive, radical and familiar his graphic novels have brought new subjects into comic art and new readers into the fold not only in Spain but in Europe and the Americas too. He also hosts a radio show and works in the advertising and animation industries.
Roberto Bartual, comics scholar at the University of Madrid, Spain will introduce you to the extraordinary work of Paco Roca
In partnership with The School of Languages, Cardiff University
