Art & Crafts |
8th February 2020

8 Feb | 10.30 – 4.30 | Tutor Gill Ferguson | £63 includes merino fleece and a scarf length piece of silk

An opportunity to explore the technique of Nuno Felt Making. Fine patterns are drawn with fleece onto a silk chiffon or muslin background, when felted together a subtle, delicate fabric is created. You can create a stunning scarf, a window drape or wall hanging.

What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?

Through this workshop you will learn how to layout your design in fleece onto a piece of silk chiffon and how to bond it to the fabric, once the fleece is bonded you will “throw” the fabric to create the distinctive nuno effect. This very drapeable fabric can be used as a scarf, wall hanging or window drape. We will discuss different applications for the nuno technique and suitable fabrics to work with.

You will be taught through demonstration, group discussion and handouts that will be provided.

What do I need to bring with me?

  • 2 old towels and a bucket/bowl or carrier to take them home in when wet.
  • A piece of bubble wrap 1.5- 2m long.
  • An old piece of net curtain or tulle.
  • Gill will provide merino fleece for you to work with and a piece of scarf length silk chiffon. If you have any silk chiffon or muslin you would like to work with please bring it along.
