Explore your creativity using a range of art techniques such as masking and resist methods for inks and paints, mark making for pattern and texture, paper cuts, pen and wash, collage etc.
Build confidence in how to combine techniques with a range of layout and composition ideas to help you produce a series of striking, pleasing or thought- provoking artworks.
What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?
Tutor led demonstrations, discussion and example work will guide you through the process.
By the end of the course you will:
Have explored a wide range of mixed media techniques.
Have built confidence in combining techniques to create a series of your own mixed media artworks.
Suitable for all levels and abilities.
What do I need to bring with me?
All materials provided – but you are welcome to bring your own scissors, glue, brushes, papers and any art resources you enjoy using, if you wish.
Activities may be messy so you may want to wear old clothes or bring an apron.

About the tutor
Nicki Smith is a community artist who works with all ages including children, young families and older people through a wide range of organisations. She specialises in encouraging participation and her projects are as varied as engaging with local classes to creating artwork that toured the U.S., and being part of the Northwest Cultural Olympiad.
