“Cuddy and his Mates” is a new play for children (ages 7-12 years) and families explores the early lives of three of the ‘Northern Saints’ from a child’s perspective, uncovering the humanity behind the history.
Meet Cuthbert the country lad, Bede the bookish one, and Godric a daredevil who later became a pirate-adventurer. The play tells of their childhood escapades before monastic life and how they ran their mothers ragged just like children do!
This wonderful production, which includes an original sound score of Northumbrian pipe music, is inspired by the return of the Lindisfarne Gospels to the North East of England in 2013.
Notes: Please note that although the Church is accessible and on one level, the seating pews make it difficult for wheelchair users to get a good view. We will endeavor to find the most suitable positioning, but views may be restricted. Apologies for any inconvenience.
