Saturday 15th Oct 2.30-3.30pm BAC Theatre
On an exclusive visit to the UK Steve and Luke McGarry, father and son will share their secrets on how to break into the worlds of illustration, animation, syndication and more.
Originally from Manchester, they count as two of the most prolific, widely-published and sought after cartoonists in Los Angeles. In the UK alone Steve’s daily strips include Badlands, which ran for a dozen years in The Sun, The Diary of Rock and Pop (The Daily Star) and he has regularly graced the pages of soccer magazines Match, Match of the Day and Shoot! His comics work ranges from Romeo in the 70s, Look-In in the 80s through to Toxic! today. For the last three years Steve has also been collaborating on movies such as Despicable Me 2, The Minions and the Secret Life of Pets and was story artist on Minions Paradise for EA Games. Luke McGarry is an illustrator, cartoonist, animator and designer and the creator behind the recent Star Wars-inspired “Sad Chewie” cartoons that quickly became an internet viral phenomenon. He is the go-to designer for some of the biggest festivals and music promoters in the States and has collaborated with, amongst others, Jack Black and Tenacious D. At just 28 years old he is set to eclipse his Dad.
Steve and Luke will take you on a whirlwind hour-long tour of their careers – entertaining and enlightening – don’t miss out!
