Starts 7.30 pm | Tickets £10 | Town Hall, Kendal
Once again Levens Choir takes to the stage of the Town Hall for a concert which will be very different from its normal fare. Through madrigals, part songs and folk songs we celebrate the natural world. Four members of the choir form the ‘AdLib’ Folk Song Group and will be singing in this concert along with the whole choir and Ken Forster both accompanying and playing his own suitably ecological piano solo!
From songs beautifully evocative of the natural world by Gerald Finzi and Camille Saint-Saens to Andrew Carter’s upbeat setting of the Teddy Bears’ Picnic and John Rutter’s witty setting of ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’; from the 17th century’s invitation to ‘All Creatures’ to celebrate the reign of Elizabeth Ist to Eric Whitacre’s hilarious settings of poems by Ogden Nash, Levens Choir’s concert will be ideal for a summer evening! Come and join us!
Seats are unreserved – cabaret style in the main hall and as usual in the balcony- and doors open at 7:00 pm.
