A Declaration of Love for the Wilderness.
performed by Mike Maran
directed by Patrick Sandford
sound designed by Frances M Lynch and Herbie Clarke
John Muir explored the forests and glaciers of the Pacific North West and inspired environmental thinking all over the world. He saved the life of his climbing companion, Samuel Hall Young, on a mountain top in Alaska and rescued Young’s dog, a plucky wee terrier, called Stickeen, from a glacier crevasse. In this moving new drama, Sam Young, played by Mike Maran, celebrates the life and writing of his friend, John Muir.
If you are familiar with Mike Maran’s work (‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’, The Little World of Don Camillo’, ‘A Funny Valentine,’ Italia n Caledonia; ….) you’ll love this.
