This class has just completed its second year. If you feel you grasp the basics in terms of verb conjugation in the present tense and passato prossimo, have a basis in everyday vocabulary, can get by at a basic level in everyday situations and wish to build upon all of this, then this course should suit you.
If you wish to enrol on this course for the first time, please contact the Brewery to be put in touch with the tutor to ensure this is the right level for you.
What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?
You will widen the range of contexts in which you are able to express yourself and continue to improve your knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and expression.
The emphasis will be on developing speaking and listening skills via a variety of exercises and activities in a relaxed atmosphere. There will be lots of pair and group work, and the approach will be light-hearted! All will be presented and practised in useful everyday situations. As the emphasis is on communication, please be prepared to have a go!

Spring term: week of 17 Feb 2020
By the end of the course/workshop you will:
- have built upon the number of everyday situations in which you can get by
- have a deeper understanding of key elements of Italian grammar and sentence structure, giving you the confidence to express yourself a little more freely.
- have an understanding of object pronouns
- have an understanding of reflexive verbs
- have broadened your knowledge of the use of prepositions
- have had the opportunity to review language areas studied at beginner/ post beginner level, especially the passato prossimo.

Please bring a pen, notebook and your glasses, if you need them.
Are there any additional costs?
You will be asked to purchase a moderately priced course book, to be advised at the start of the course.
About the tutor
Catherine Bond is an experienced language teacher with a degree in French and German. During her degree she spent a term at university in France, and a year as a language assistant in a school on Lake Constance, on the Swiss/German border. After completing a PGCE she spent spent 2 years living in Italy, learning Italian, and working as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language, which she continued to do in Oxford on her return to the UK. She has been teaching Italian, German and French in Adult Education for the past 9 years.
