Wed 23 Sep to Wed 21 October 2020 (BLOCK 1) | Wed 4 Nov to Wed 9 Dec 2020 (BLOCK 2) | 1.15-3.15pm | £67.50 (5 weeks) | Tutor Cath Bond
If you are at a stage where you would like to extend your knowledge of more idiomatic language, look in greater detail at aspects of grammar and sentence structure, and in doing so revise and clarify some of the basics, this is the course for you.
What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?
The course takes place in a relaxed and light hearted atmosphere with plenty of opportunities to try your Italian out. Activities will involve speaking, reading, listening and writing, and there may be some opportunity for audio-visual activities.
The main emphasis will be on communication, so there will be plenty of opportunity to practice your speaking skills, while working on improving your vocabulary and level of accuracy. Topics will help you extend the number of everyday situations in which you can express yourself.
By the end of the course you will:
- Have revised key elements of grammar, particularly different types of verbs and the tense system as studied thus far.
- Have more confidence in using object pronouns (direct and indirect)
- Have a broader knowledge of prepositions (of location, time and place)
- Be able to form and use adverbs
- Be able to use reflexives in the passato prossimo
- Have an understanding of the imperfect
- Be able to form the conditional
All the above grammar will be embedded in everyday topics, for example
holidays, the weather, the home, childhood, history, describing places, so you will be very much encouraged to practise the grammar above all orally, with the backup of written exercises, done for both for homework and in class.
Please note there are no classes on the following dates:
26 to 30 October; 16 to 20 November 2020
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring a pen, notebook and your glasses, if you need them.
Are there any additional costs?
You will be asked to purchase a moderately priced course book, to be advised at the start of the course.
