25 Apr | 10.30 am – 4.30 pm | Tutor Caren Threlfell | £59
During this creative one day course, you will learn a number of techniques in order to produce beautiful pieces of art painted on silk. You will discover how to paint onto silk and create different effects using watercolour techniques, textural salt effects and the use of ‘guttas’ or outliners. You will then learn how to use hot wax as a resist to create Batik pieces for you to take away at the end of the day!
What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?
You will learn by tutor demonstration and then by having a go yourself, with the tutor always on hand for help and advice. You will learn and practice several techniques associated with silk painting, creating samples for your reference and also the technique of Batik where hot wax is used as a resist.
You will then move on to creating finished pieces which you’ll be able to take home at the end of the day.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please either wear old clothes or bring along an apron as the paints we will be using will stain clothing. If you prefer to use your own paintbrushes, please bring them along, but the tutor will have brushes for you to use. You may also want to bring along some photos, magazine cuttings, books or cards for some inspiration.
All materials are included.
Are there any additional costs?
No
