Introduction To Life Drawing

19th September 2018

Tutor Catherine MacDiarmid | Fee £149 | 10 weeks

This course will provide an opportunity for people of all abilities, specific to beginners, to develop drawing direct from a life model. You will explore techniques that promote good drawing discipline related to working directly from life. You will be encouraged to try new techniques and have an experimental approach to some different drawing media. The higher fee for this workshop reflects using a life model each week.

  • Understand and apply measuring techniques to life drawing.
  • Apply a variety of experimental drawing techniques to life drawing.
  • Use a variety of drawing media.
  • Appreciate drawing techniques used by other artists.

Methods of learning in the course:
Practical work. Demonstration. Group work. Group discussion. One-to-one. Looking at work by other artists. Peer learning. Self-assessment. Tutor assessment.

By the end of the course/workshop you will be capable of :

Other drawing media that can be used include pastels, compressed charcoals, conte etc. The tutor will let you know when you will need something specific.

When using art materials your clothes could potentially get dirty so you may wish to dress accordingly. Different media and materials will be used and you will be told what to bring on a weekly basis (low cost options will always be given).
