Wed 18 Jul | 10.30am-4.30pm | with Irene Sanderson | £55
About the course:
The Chinese brush is used by many in a form of meditation because of the need to concentrate on preparation not only of the brush but also of the body and mind. This practical workshop will give beginners an introduction to the basics of Chinese brush calligraphy and painting, and give those with some experience opportunity to learn and develop.
What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring:
- A pen, notebook and your glasses if you need them.
- Watercolours (tube). These may be artist quality or student quality, English or Chinese.
- 5 white saucers to mix ink and watercolour.
- 2 half-litre water containers, clear plastic, for washing and rinsing your brushes.
- A roll of kitchen paper
- Two newspapers
- Any materials you wish to use, such as Chinese brushes or inks.
Please wear protective clothing – an apron or shirt– as Chinese ink does stain! Irene will bring all the essential materials you need, such as brushes, inks and paper, and you will be able to use these freely. Worksheet copies are available to purchase at 10p a sheet.
