HELEN

Actos of Dionysus have been commissioned by Harlow Playhouse and the Castle Wellingborough to produce a new piece of theatre, exploring the eponymous icon Helen of Troy.

An aging, glamorous icon is held captive in a darkened room, with only a shadowy male figure for company.  Is he her lover, jailer or executioner? Is she a prisoner to circumstance or complicit in her own demise?  Inspired by the myth of Helen of Troy and incorporating exceptional aerial/circus skills, Helen will offer an exciting, epic and contemporary twist on a mythical narrative.

From the creators of Bacchic, Helen is co-written and directed by award winning theatre maker, Jonathan Young and performed and co-devised by Tamsin Shasha.

Celebrating their 21st anniversary in 2014, aod are a national and international touring company and have been at the vanguard of producing exciting new versions of Ancient Greek dramas and new writing inspired by myth.
