Over two sessions, design and print your own fabric to make your own unique lampshade – a gift that might be too beautiful to give away!
What will the class cover and how will it be taught?
You’ll learn:
- Basic monoprint and linocut printing techniques
- How to print on fabric and how to assemble a lampshade
Who is it suitable for?
All abilities, no experience required
What do I need to bring?
- Images and ideas to work from
- Scissors
- Apron
- Pencils
- Tape measure
Are there any additional costs?
The lampshade kit needs to be purchased directly from the tutor, cost is £14 for a 25cm lampshade, other sizes may be available. The fabric for one lampshade, inks and use of all other equipment is included in the workshop fee.
About the tutor
Angie Mitchell is a multimedia artist living in South Lakes. She has a passion for pattern and colour and is inspired by journeys she has made, her allotment and by the wonderful area in which she lives, its flora and fauna and the ever-changing landscape. In her printmaking, she uses various techniques of relief and mono-print to make each print different and unique. She also makes handprinted lampshades and tote bags using original prints. She exhibits in various galleries around the county and South Lakes, and with The Lakes Artists Society of which she is a member.
