Directed by BAFTA and Grierson winning filmmaker Gerry Fox, the film follows Natalia through a breathtaking year of rehearsals for everything from the Royal Ballet’s production of La Bayadere (with legendary Natalia Makarova) to contemporary dance at Sadler’s Wells and new commissions from leading choreographers Arthur Pita and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Black Swan it is not! Although alongside Natalia’s iconic Giselle, Black Swan is one of her most famous roles.

Natalia opens up about her life and history, her childhood in Russia, her time with American Ballet Theatre and her journey to the Opera House. From rehearsal rooms at Covent Garden to Natalia’s own personal archive, it is an unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the leading ballerina of our generation.

The film is produced by Justine Waddell, Alexandrina Markvo and Gerry Fox for Asterisk Films, Bird & Carrot and Foxy Films in association with Sky Arts.
