Hailing from the Highlands of Scotland, Elephant Sessions formed in 2012. They are comprised of Euan Smillie (fiddle), Alasdair Taylor (mandolin), Seth Tinsley (bass, synth) and Greg Barry (drums, samples). Creating a progressive blend of engulfing guitars, with a bass and drum heavy backline, their music combines the very best of trad, funk and electronica resulting in a new and exciting sound.

Gigging extensively around the UK, they swiftly built a fan base and went on to release their debut album The Elusive Highland Beauty in 2014 to critical acclaim. Since then, they have made live appearances at some of the most notable venues and festivals across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia, including Glastonbury, Byron Bay Bluesfest, Colours of Ostrava and multiple headline sell-outs at Celtic Connections.

Mercury Prize winning band Alt-J, along with BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6, have championed the band’s unique brand of indie folk. A live session on NPR and articles in Rolling Stone Magazine and the Bluegrass Situation sat alongside national press, radio and tv. The band went on to pick up Album of the Year (2017) and Live Act of the Year (2018) at the BBC Trad Music Awards as well as a nomination for Best Group at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and being twice nominated for the SAY Awards (Scottish Album of the Year) for their albums All We Have Is Now and What Makes You.

2022 saw the release of their highly anticipated fourth album, For The Night, reaching #3 in the Official UK Folk Album Charts, as well as the band’s tenth anniversary, where they played a special sold out show in Glasgow’s legendary Barrowlands.

‘The versatility of Elephant Sessions is its strength. Passionate about their culture and their origins, these Scots are using their instruments like weapons to destroy clichés…We love them’ Rolling Stone Magazine

‘Absolutely superb…’ Chris Hawkins (BBC Radio 6 Music)
