Discover….Mixed Media Wire Birds | Sat 5 Feb | 1.30-4.30pm | £45 (includes tea and coffee) | 16 + | Tutor Priscilla Edwards | Studio 3

Create a wire bird sculpture using fabric wire and wax that oozes character and charm. Discover… Mixed Media Wire Birds introduces you to working with a combination of different materials techniques that brings together mixed media processes, textiles and stitch to realise your vision.

What will the workshop cover and how will it be taught?
Explore the extraordinary possibilities of working with lightweight wire to create small-scale bird sculptures. Discover how to shape wire by simply using pliers and fingertip manipulation to make a structure. Priscilla will share with you her unique combination of creative techniques to embellish your bird using layers of fabric and wax before adding touches of paper, paint, buttons, beads and hand stitch.

As the birds develop you will see their distinct characters unfolding and becoming your own unique creations. All equipment and most materials are provided see list for suggested things to bring. Please feel free to bring any additional materials you wish to work with, Priscilla’s workshops always encourage you to develop personal pieces of work.

Who is it suitable for?
This workshop would suit anyone who enjoys working with mixed media techniques, fabric, wire and paper.

What do I need to bring?

  • An apron
  • Scissors
  • A small collection of lightweight fabrics – cotton and silks work best.
  • A small selection of scrap paper
  • A large wooden cotton reel
  • Please feel free to bring any additional haberdashery – including buttons, lace and threads.

Are there any additional costs?
No, all other materials are included.
