Explore the endless creative possibilities of paper collage. During Discover Contemporary Collage, you will learn different ways to add colour to papers creating a variety of effects. These will form the basis of your colourful compositions that can be added to with found images.
What will the workshop cover and how will it be taught?
Celebrate the beauty of paper and explore the fascinating process of creating images from different papers and found images. In Discover… Contemporary Collage you will explore how to colour paper using inks, paints and pigments transforming their surface into something new. Then compose your ideas by cutting, tearing and shaping papers – adding found images and making up compositions. You can collage with anything magazines, photocopies, old books, packaging, posters, photographs and postcards. The possibilities are endless and there’s no need to overthink the process just go with the flow, the outcomes are always remarkable.
Priscilla’s workshops always encourage you to develop personal ideas so please bring a collection of papers you have sourced yourself – this will make your collages totally distinctive and special to you!
Who is it suitable for?
No experience is necessary, this workshop would suit anyone who enjoys working with mixed media techniques and paper.

About the tutor
Priscilla’s practice is rooted in contemporary textiles but encompasses a broad range of materials, processes and techniques. Her work explores themes relating to identity, memory and nostalgia drawing inspiration from her collections of found objects, ephemera, literature and film. She has exhibited across the UK, Sweden, Germany and the US and is part of ‘Decorum’ a group of artists exhibiting mixed media textiles and embroidery.
Priscilla has over 20 years of teaching experience working in Higher Education lecturing in several Fashion and Textile Departments including the University of Salford and the University of Cumbria. She currently tutors for the University of Creative Arts in Farnham through their partner OCA and runs independent workshops for schools, colleges and galleries.
