Bring your first draft of your screenplay (in whatever state it may be in!) and we will work as a guided writers room to develop it into a confident piece of work – with the aim of getting it to an audience.
What will the class cover and how will it be taught?
Over 6 weeks we will use development processes including guided feedback, table reads, professional formatting tips and techniques to activate and visualise your story on the page.
The course can be taken on your own terms, and we will demystify the industry and share resources for getting your script read and pitching if that is what you’re ready for.

Screenwriters who have a first draft or detailed treatment of a feature to work with, and who want to develop it further.

About the tutor
With 25 years of experience in film and TV and with over 25 credits as a Development Producer or Script Editor, Becca Ellson has worked with the BFI, BBC, Lighthouse and independent filmmakers to develop films which have garnered multiple awards and nominations including 6 BAFTA nominations, an Academy Award nomination, a Cannes Critiques Week Canal+ winner and a Welsh BAFTA winner.
Her own dramatic fiction has been performed on stage and screen and she currently has several screenplays in funded and non-funded development. Becca worked for several years for Guiding Lights, the UK film industry’s high-profile mentoring scheme, and was a tutor in screenwriting at Ravensbourne College, University of London. She is also currently a part-time tutor in film production at Kendal College.
