When the Sky Breaks 3D

City Breathing

New Work (title tbc)

Brooklyn-based, Decadance redefine the image of women in hip-hop and have become a key ambassador of authentic, New York City hip-hop culture around the world.

This evening of knock out performance fuses old-school hip-hop styles with cutting edge 3D video technology taking the dancers into an abstract world where b-boying (breakdance), popping and house dance come alive against a city morphing from solid to liquid. The Decadance Crew interacts with the 3D universe as the pure joy and spirit of dance transforms the buildings into rain and the streets into oceans. Embracing the fluid side of hip-hop, the dancers float, slide, spin, wave, and balance as the projections and choreography seamlessly merge together.

“Decadance is onto something…a performance that is intensely emotional and casually streetwise”
– The New York Times

“The dancers bring—dare I say?—the feminine mystique to hip-hop. They suspend the expected fierce staccato moves in a matrix of lush fluency and add a dimension of alluring mystery to the form's conventional tough, streetwise attitude.”The Village Voice

“Their unusual blend of hip hop and ballet was so carefully choreographed, it would makes the likes of J-Lo weep” – East Coast Press
