About the course:
Play, experiment and learn some new techniques creating versatile materials that can be used as backgrounds for textiles and mixed media collages. Make materials that can be printed, cut, torn, stitched and embellished with foils to use for your own art projects.
What do I need to bring?
All the materials that you require will be provided. You will be working with pva glue, melted wax and paint so wear an apron or old clothes.
If you have any images that you want to use for inspiration then please feel to bring them with you. However, you can just come with an open mind and see where the day takes you. Please bring a pen, notebook and your glasses, if you need them.

Using tissue paper, a variety of other papers and muslin learn to create a variety of different materials that can used as backgrounds for both textiles and mixed media collage. The materials that you will make are all extremely versatile for use in any mixed media projects as they can be printed, cut, torn, stitched and embellished with foils.
No previous experience is required just a desire to play, experiment and learn some new techniques.
Following tutor led demonstrations with examples of how to use the materials the sessions will be very hands on as you work through the creation of a number of different pieces.
The techniques which will be covered are
• Fabric Paper
• Laminated Tissue Paper
• Crumpled Paper Fabric
Comprehensive handouts will guide you through the process and enable you to produce further materials at home.
By the end of the session you will have created at least one sample of each of the materials and had the opportunity to discuss how you could develop your work further.
Most of the Brewery is accessible for those who consider themselves to have a disability. There is a lift to all floors within the main building and adapted toilets. On occasion classes may take place in a room with access via stairs only.
