Sunday 16th Oct 1.00-2.00pm The Shakespeare Centre
Craig Thompson is one of the most critically-acclaimed cartoonists of his generation. He dazzles with his pen strokes, sumptuous artwork and mastery of storytelling and has been described as “one of the finest contemporary writers regardless of medium”.
Of Blankets Neil Gaiman said “Moving, tender, beautifully drawn, painfully honest and probably the most important graphic novel since Jimmy Corrigan”“Blankets officially confirms Craig Thompson’s place in the world of graphic novels as one of the true greats” – Brian Michael Bendis
Blankets was winner of three 2004 Harvey Awards and two 2004 Eisner Awards for best Graphic Album and Best Writer/Artist but there has been much more from Craig standing alongside this epic – Goodbye Chunky Rice, Carnet de Voyage, Habibi and, most recently, Space Dumplins. He has been awarded three Eisner awards, three Harvey awards, two Ignatz awards, and a Grammy nomination for album cover artwork on Menomena’s Friend and Foe.
Craig has been on the festival “wish-list” since day one and, at last, our dreams come true! Grasp this opportunity for an exclusive audience with Craig and explore his career, influences and future plans with Titan Comics Brand Manager and podcaster Chris Thompson.
