Learn some of the key skills of a sculptor (Pinch, slab & coil) and in the process, you will create your very own masterpiece that you can be proud of. This workshop is suitable for the complete beginner.
What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?
The workshop will cover the fundamental skills of a sculptor, slab, pinch and coil. I will fully explain the techniques, processes, tools and the materials we use to create the sculpture. The day will be at a pace set by the group where each step is demonstrated before the participants attempt it themselves (with tutor support).
By the end of the course/workshop you will:
- Have had a great learning experience within a small supportive friendly group.
- Have learned several key skills necessary to build a sculpture.
- You would have made a ceramic hare that you can be proud of and eventually keep or give to someone as a gift.
On the day the tutor will advise when the work can be collected.
What do I need to bring with me?
An apron can be provided but please bring your own if preferred.
Please bring a pen, notebook and your glasses, if you need them.
Are there any additional costs?
The workshop fee includes all tuition, a comfortable creative space, good quality clay, all sculpting tools, glazes and oxides plus two kiln firings.
About the tutor
Richard Hedges is an award-winning sculptor based in Yorkshire with 15 years’ experience. He runs workshops throughout the North of England, displaying work in galleries across the region.
