Meet the tutor…

The Brewery Youth Arts programme is very happy to welcome a brand new drum tutor to the team! Kirkby Stephen–based Jake Dakin bashes the skins in two of Cumbria’s hottest bands – Room Full of Mirrors and Righteous Bees.

RFoM’s and Righteous Bees unique brand of funky folk music has seen them perform at top venues and festivals across the UK, including here at the Brewery. Jake is influenced by wide variety of different types of music ranging from electronic dance to hip hop.

Jake said:  “The sessions for younger kids will be very much about learning the basic fundamental techniques needed to play the drums and will involve fun games to make it interactive and interesting.”

“The sessions for older kids will be more advanced and we’ll be looking at drumming styles from a variety of genres and I’ll be encouraging them to bring their own ideas from the types of music they are particularly interested in.

“Drum Trax will be a great introduction to this fantastic instrument so just come along and give it a go!”
