BRAINSTORM:THE ART OF BRYAN TALBOT

Festivals |
19th October 2014

2.30-3.30 Venue: BAC Screen 1

Described as “a dazzling and tireless exponent of the comic art form” Bryan Talbot has been one of the driving forces in the comics industry since the late 70s when he created the Brainstorm Comix series for Alchemy Press. Since then he has produced work in almost every genre and pushed boundaries in many ways ranging from sci-fi Victoriana (The Adventures of Luther Arkwright), credited as being the first graphic novel in the UK, to a moving tale about surviving child abuse (The Tale of One Bad Rat) to Alice in Sunderland, covering the history and culture of Sunderland. Most recently his highly-acclaimed steampunk detective series Grandville, which follows the life of Detective Inspector Lebrock, employs anthropomorphism and satire to startling effect. Bryan will be talking about his career in comics with comic art guru Dr Mel Gibson.
