Tutor Jamie Barnes | Fee £55 | 1 session

Kendal is full of historic buildings packed with character which lend themselves to being drawn. Local artist-printmaker Jamie Barnes will lead you round his hometown of Kendal to you key sites of architectural interest ripe for sketching. From these sites he will guide you in sketching sessions which mix clean line drawing with the option of adding greyscale ink washes to add depth and interest.

What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?

The session will start with a brief introduction and display of examples.
The rest of the session will involve walking to several areas of Kendal as Jamie gives you guidance and tips on how to draw the buildings visible from each site. If the participants want to add more depth and tone to their drawings, Jamie will guide you on how to use ink washes to add depth, tone and perspective.

By the end of the session you will have made several outdoor ‘ArchiSketches’ in your sketchbook which are alive with interesting details and textural washes.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring three fibre-tipped drawing pens of different thicknesses, e.g 0.1, 0.3 & 0.5
Some black drawing ink or black watercolour, watercolour brush/es or reservoir brush/es, a watercolour palette, and a sketchbook with fairly thick paper.

Are there any additional costs?
