AN AUDIENCE with… TIM BROOKE-TAYLOR

Comedy |
12th September 2015

Sat 12 Sept | 8pm | £16 all tickets

An unforgettable evening in the company of one of the funniest and best-loved comedy performers of our time as he discusses his long career with the writer and broadcaster Chris Serle.

Tim Brooke-Taylor delights as he tells hilarious stories from a lifetime in comedy. This is an evening of warmth and good-humour spiced with a few revealing anecdotes about many of the names Tim has appeared with including his fellow Goodies Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie.

This was a truly enjoyable evening, packed with laughter, that passed all too quickly. (Kidderminster Shuttle)

As a Cambridge graduate planning a sensible career in the family law firm, he shot to international stardom with the review “Cambridge Circus” in the 1960s.

Doyen of Cambridge Footlights, The Goodies and I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue, Brooke-Taylor, rightly remains an influential and revered figure, a man who has helped to shape an art form alongside genuine giants of the genre for more than 50 years. The closing five minutes of the evening, a brilliant Goodies sketch from 1975 which paid tribute to the history of cinema in their own inimitable style, was a fine denouement (Wales Online)

A string of brilliant anecdotes includes Tim’s hesitant start in comedy as a schoolboy-magician, golf with Sevvie Ballesteros, directing Orson Welles in a feature film and an encounter with Eric Morecambe on a beach in Portugal. The evening is generously illustrated with clips of the funniest moments from his TV and film career.
