Acts Of Resistance: Shattered

Theatre |
1st October 2018 – 2nd October 2018

In 2020, set against a backdrop of increased fracking activity closer to home, an ensemble of characters from Kendal question their priorities within their community. With the announcement of an imminent national protest, personalities clash, relationships splinter and new friendships are forged.

Using a contemporary blend of abstract and naturalistic theatrical styles shot through with dark humour, BAC’s Act Your Age group present an exploration of what lies beneath the surface of our inner lives and what happens when that ruptures into the world we’ll leave behind.Headlong Futures is a bold and ambitious project which brings together four distinctive communities across England, creating four unique stories.

The UK is in turmoil. The zeitgeist is one of division and defiance. Headlong Futures is a response to this confusion. Headlong has worked with the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal and the local community, exploring how we can work together across generations, across backgrounds and across the nation.

Revealing stories from communities that uncover the fractures within our country, Headlong Futures has worked with Bristol Old Vic, New Perspectives (East Midlands), Theatre Royal Plymouth and Brewery Arts Centre (Kendal) to create four local shows. Over the next 6-months, Headlong Theatre and writer Stef Smith will take these shows and fuse them into one larger play which will be presented in Early 2019.
