A tale of greed, love, revolution and pay toilets, this hilariously funny, very touching, utterly offbeat show! Sometimes all you need is a drop of a hope to save the world!
Urinetown is a “sharp-witted rampant riot” of a show! It tells the tale of a town about to burst; spending a penny can prove problematic in a place where the privilege to pee has a preposterous price tag. Tipping a wink toward West Side Story, Chicago and Les Misérables, Urinetown pays irreverent homage to the great American musical theatre tradition. Its score is one of musical theatre's finest.
Don't be put off by the deliberately ‘unsavoury whiff’ of its title; Urinetown is a life-affirmingly original and vastly entertaining modern musical, and a great night out for anyone with a funny bone and an ear for a great tune.
Also recommended for people who are quite sure they 'don't like musicals'.
Kendal College Performing Arts has a reputation for presenting musicals at The Brewery that ‘rock’ the building and have audiences on their feet, Urinetown promises to carry on that tradition with some of the best young talent in the area in their final year show.
