Festivals JORDI BERNET: SPANISH LEGEND

Saturday 15th Oct 1.00-2.00pm The Shakespeare Centre

Jordi Bernet (born Barcelona, 1944) has won every comic book “gong” including the Oscars of comics, the Eisner Award. His most famous and universally-recognised work is Torpedo 1936 where he considers he was at the peak of his career. In the build up to launching Torpedo he worked for major European publishers and on a large number of action and noir stories for the Spanish market. Since then his work has enjoyed great success across Europe and further afield in particular Clara de Noche (Betty by Night) which has been running since 1992. More recently he took on the last bastion i.e. American mainstream comics and in 2000 made his first Batman story. Since then he has worked on Jonah Hex, Spirit as well as other Batman stories.
Alex Fitch of Resonance FM will introduce you to the King of Noir and offer you a rare opportunity to share an audience with this Spanish legend.
