Walk: Kendal to Lancaster Canal – The Northern Reaches
For: Adults and Children

Description: This walk has been included in the programme to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the canal from Kendal to Tewitfield completing the route to Lancaster and onwards to Preston, which had previously been opened in 1797. Although largely filled in the route of what was known as the “black and white” canal, because of the frequent loads of coal and limestone, offers easy walking through pleasant countryside with the occasional canal bridge standing incongruously in open pasture.
