13 The Kentmere Horseshoe

Walk: The horseshoe at the head of the Kent valley.
For: Adults
Duration: 7 to 8 hours including travel
Distance / Ascent: 13miles/21km, 3700ft/1128m
Grading: Strenuous – Leaders reserve the right to refuse acceptance on the walk if they have concerns about an individual’s fitness to walk.
Description: The horseshoe at the head of the Kent valley is one of the great walks of the Lake District. However if the weather is very bad the route will be changed to a lower one including the passes (Gatesgarth, Nan Bield etc.).
Meeting Place: The Peace Garden, Abbott Hall Park
Meeting Time: Saturday 12th May at 9:20am for a 9:30am start
Leader / Organisation: Ken Taylor and Bryan Hardaker / Kendal Fellwalkers
Equipment: Sturdy walking boots, full waterproofs (top and overtrousers), warm clothing (including hat and gloves), food and drink sufficient for a day out on the hills.
Dogs: Sorry – no dogs allowed on this walk.
Max No People: 14
Cost: £10 including mini bus
