Synopsis
Two British track athletes, one a determined Jew and the other a devout Christian, compete in the 1924 Olympics.
Chariots of Fire tells the fact-based story of two athletes competing in the 1924 Olympic Games in London: Eric Liddell a Scots Christian who runs for the glory of God and Harold Abrahams, an English Jew who runs to overcome prejudice.
The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards at the 1981 Oscars and scooped four, including Best Picture.
It is also ranked 19th in the British Film Institute's list of the top 100 British films
