Brewery Arts Centre

Visual Art

The Visual Arts Department exhibits a wide variety of work from local, national and international artists, across a wide spectrum of media, ranging from artists prints to textiles and from paintings to environmental sculpture.

The Brewery Arts Centre offers professional and non professional artists the opportunity to create and exhibit their work in a variety of spaces on the main Brewery site in Kendal as well as at the Café in the Forest, part of the Grizedale Visitor Centre.

We also welcome digital work which we host via our website and seek to extend the impact of the Brewery’s programme by developing exhibitions in non-gallery contexts across South Lakeland.

Additionally we involve a wide constituency of artists through initiatives like our bi-annual Open Up North open art exhibition and are home of Art Club, an informal monthly gathering of artists.

The Brewery places an emphasis on working with emerging artists and encourages everyone to develop their skills through the visual arts elements of our Adult Education and Youth Arts programmes.
